Domaine André et Michel Quenard

Guillaume et Romain QUENARD

One of many Quenard in Chignin, Michel Quenard has been one of the leading lights of Savoie for many years. Today, technically retired from the estate, he supports his two sons, Guillaume and Romain, to keep the family domaine among the region’s best known and respected. Most of the vineyards have a reasonably high average vines age and are located near the cellars at the eastern end of the Chignin cru facing slightly west. Not being on such solid rock as those near the famous Chignin towers, they can withstand drought years better, and are noticeable for the terraces that Michel has built in the late 1980s. The very steep vineyard is farmed manually and no chemicals are used.
The grapes are fermented naturally with indigenous yeasts. The wines are aged for 6 months to one year in stainless tanks or big oak foudres depending on the cuvée. "The wines all express liveliness and alpine freshness. They are faithfull expression of the domaine’s complex terroir"
